Surly's beer hall, kitchen, and beer garden are now open!
Guests will find 30+ tap lines that include everything from core brands like Furious and Grapefruit Supreme to a dozen beer hall exclusives. The kitchen is open with returning favorites like hog frites and new dishes like Minnesota fried chicken sandwiches and tacos al pastor.
As we reopen, the beer hall will continue extending its hours. Doors are currently open Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 3:00 to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m, and now Sunday from noon to 8:00 p.m. Other changes to the beer hall experience include updated artwork, a memorial to former legislator and Minnesota craft beer patron saint Linda Scheid, counter service, and a service-included charge to all checks.
(The service charge is 18% added automatically to all checks. It's used to support higher wages and benefit costs for our hospitality staff. Pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 177.23, subdivision 9, this charge is not a gratuity. Our hardworking staff thanks you for your support. Questions while you're here? Let a manager know. You can also read all about it.)
RE: COVID. The situation continues to evolve and Surly is evolving with it. As it stands, our staff is masking up. We strongly encourage our patrons dining indoors to mask up as well when they’re not eating/drinking, regardless of vaccination status. We are not requiring patrons to be vaccinated at this time.
We agree this isn’t ideal, and we also hope this section reads “GO CRAZY FOLKS, COVID IS OVER” in the very near future. Thank you for understanding, and thank you for not yelling at our staff if you disagree with this policy.
The most up-to-date details will be shared on Instagram at SurlyBeerHall.
(For those asking, there are no tours being offered at this time.)
Our take on New Haven-style apizza was an out-of-the-box hit when it opened in spring 2018, as it turns out beer and pizza is not just for college kids anymore. Open nights and Saturdays when we’re at our busiest, the pizza comes out fast, hot, and delicious.
We have plenty of FREE parking, bike racks, and we’re really close to the Prospect Park stop on the Green Line and the Dinkytown Greenway/University of Minnesota Transitway.
Making a day or weekend of it? There are plenty of hotels near our destination brewery. If you'll be in town for a wedding, concert, ballgame, or just the hell of it, stay awhile.
Dedicated in memory of Linda Scheid, the legislator who championed the “Surly Bill” that made all of this possible, Scheid Hall is our acclaimed meeting and event center with a capacity of 175 guests, depending on the type of function desired.
Make your event a SURLY event and stage it at our Minneapolis brewery. Our Scheid Hall event space sets the mood for an intimate, energized gathering, hosting groups ranging in size from 50 to 175 guests. An ideal combination of elegant and industrial design guarantees an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. Surly’s private event spaces are perfect for team meetings, holiday parties, happy hours, rehearsal dinners, weddings, and more.
Although the beer hall has reopened, we're neither holding nor booking future event dates. Our return to hosting events will ultimately be driven by the evolving (and encouraging) state health guidelines and corresponding capacity limits. If you'd like to be contacted when we have additional details on booking events, please fill out the form below.
