With winter finally loosening its grip, Surly Gives a Damn (our brewery’s charitable arm) is kicking into high gear. In addition to our year-round indoor projects, we can now get to work on community gardens, environmental cleanup, and more.
As we do that, we wanted to put a ribbon on our 2022 efforts. Our SGAD volunteers never cease to amaze us, giving blood, sorting food, and building entire damn houses. Together, here’s what we accomplished last year:

- Memorial Blood Center Blood Drive: 218 units, 654 lives saved/sustained

- Keystone Community Services: 1,936 families served (600 backpacks, 1,336 meals distributed)
- The Food Group: 902 lbs of food donated
- Bridging: 254 hours of service
- Minneapolis Public Schools: 1200 Thanksgiving meals donated
- City of Duluth: 1300 feet of STH trail built
- Everymeal: SGAD Donation Garden grew and donated 1,272 lbs (1,060 meals) of fresh produce
- Toys for Tots: 100 toys donated
- Living Well Disability Services: Landscaped 2 residential homes
- FB4K: Cleaned & fixed 206 bikes
- Raccoon River Trail: Picked up 35 bags of garbage
