Give a Damn About CEAP

Surly Gives A Damn and CEAP are partnering for a couple charitable endeavors this month to feed our neighbors!

On Saturday, March 25th, Surly is hosting a Stuff the Truck Donation Drive in our parking lot as part of CEAP’s Community Challenge: March of a Million Meals. Bring some non-perishable goods and get a free beer coupon for your generosity. Items most in need are:

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Canned Meals
  • Canned Veggies
  • Canned Fruit
  • Canned Meats
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly
  • Cereal
  • Oil
  • Instant potatoes
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Pancake Mix
  • Dried Beans
  • Baby Food
  • Baby Formula
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Macaroni & Cheese

We’ll be collecting food from 4-6pm. Simply drive through, drop off, and you’re done!

Then, on Friday, March 31st, we’ll be sorting all of CEAP’s March food donations at their Brooklyn Center HQ. They have a goal of 150,000 pounds for the month, so we’re going to need some helping hands to get it all sorted and ready for the community. We’re looking for ten volunteers to take some time from 1-4pm that afternoon to pitch in. First beer’s on us when we’re done! Sign up here.

ABOUT CEAP: Founded in 1970, Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP) is a community-based non-profit dedicated to providing information, referrals, advocacy, and assistance to our neighbors. CEAP mobilizes resources, shares abundance, and nourishes neighbors to create and celebrate a healthy, strong, and connected community.

SGAD EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MARY SELLKE ON CEAP: Surly is proud to take on the CEAP Community Challenge by hosting the Stuff the Truck Donation Drive on March 25th. In addition, we’re contributing up to $5,000 to match community donations. CEAP and Surly’s original brewery both got their start in Brooklyn Center; that area and surrounding community holds a special place for all of us. Like Surly, CEAP has grown beyond its BC roots, offering services with no geographic boundaries for any neighbor in need.

We stand with CEAP and are dedicated to helping them live their mission.
