We’re Not Not In Kansas Anymore

Surly Enters Kansas & Western Missouri

Minneapolis-based independent craft brewery extends distribution in Nov.

MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 26, 2021) – After successfully launching in the greater St. Louis area in 2019, Surly is thrilled to be travelling across I-70 to western Missouri & Kansas as they open distribution to both markets.

“The response to Surly in St. Louis made expanding to the rest of the state and into Kansas a priority for us,” said Surly vice president of sales Bob Repp. “And given all the market disruptions of the last 18 months, identifying a reliable and experienced distribution partner made the decision to expand further in this region even easier,” said Repp.

In partnership with Speakeasy Distribution, Surly is targeting November for full distribution across Kansas and western Missouri. Craft beer drinkers will see the full portfolio of Surly’s flagship, core, seasonal and limited releases at various retailers, bars and restaurants from Kansas City to Wichita. Brands will include Furious IPA, Axe Man IPA, Darkness Russian Imperial Stout and all four of the Supreme Tart Ale varieties.

“Surly’s unwavering commitment to create high quality beer and push boundaries in the craft brewery industry for the past 15 years felt like a natural fit with our track record for bringing best-in-class brands to our markets,” said Speakeasy founders and owners Ron Elkouri and Riley Stephens.

Mark your calendars for November and watch Surly’s social channels for updates. Current events include Surly tap takeovers in Wichita (11/2, Hill Bar & Grill), Overland Park (11/3, Barley’s), and Shawnee (11/4, Barley’s).

About Surly Brewing Co.

You do enough settling. That’s part of life. You owe it to yourself to drink a beer that doesn’t settle.  Not settling drives Surly. It’s what drove us to convert a Brooklyn Center abrasives factory to a brewery in 2004. It’s what drove Surly’s owner, Omar Ansari, to go bar-to-bar, asking them to carry our beer. It’s what drove us to earn medals from the Great American Beer Festival and Best Brewery in America honors. It’s what drove us to change a Minnesota law that had been on the books since Prohibition. It’s what drove us to build a state-of-the-art destination brewery in the heart of the Twin Cities in 2014 featuring a massive beer hall, outdoor beer garden and event center. And it’s what drives us today. Surly’s not for everyone. It’s for you. Don’t settle. Get Surly.

About Speakeasy Distribution
Ron Elkouri and Riley Stephens founded Speakeasy Distribution in 2016 with a goal of providing high quality adult beverage products at competitive prices to Kansas and Missouri residents. Inspired by Elkouri’s great-grandfather, a first-generation immigrant who turned his Texas produce stand into a multi-location distributor of food and cleaning products, Speakeasy is committed to the industry’s highest customer service and exceeding both supplier and customer expectations. Surly is thrilled to partner with them.
