‘Tis the Season for Surly Cocktails

We asked our in-house mixologists to use their not-insignificant time cooped up at home this fall to create some custom holiday cocktails with a Surly beer base. They came through in a big way. Here are four drinks that will deck the halls with boughs of holly, metaphorically:

  • Supreme Margarita
    • Ingredients
      • 1.5 oz. silver or blanco tequila (we used Tres Agaves Blanco)
      • 1 sugar cube
      • ½ oz. lime juice
      • Pinch of salt (to taste)
      • 4 oz. Grapefruit Supreme
    • Pour in glass over ice.

  • Rocket Man
    • Ingredients
      • 1 oz. Whole Leaf Gin
      • 1 oz. lemon juice
      • 1 oz. simple syrup
      • Rocket Surgery Hazy Ale
    • Shake with ice, pour over ice into rocks glass.
    • Top with 4-5 oz. of Rocket Surgery Hazy Ale.

  • Hell’s Banquet
    • Ingredients
      • 2 ounces bourbon
      • 3/4 ounces maple syrup
      • 1/2 ounces fresh lemon juice
      • 5 ounces Hell lager, cold
      • Orange wheel for garnish
    • Add the bourbon, maple syrup and lemon juice to a rocks glass and stir.
    • Add ice cubes, top with lager, and stir gently to combine.
    • Garnish with an orange wheel.

  • The Fury of the Storm
    • Ingredients
      • 12 oz. ginger beer (very cold)
      • 12 oz. Furious IPA (also very cold)
      • 3 oz dark rum
      • Juice of half a lime
      • Lime slices for garnish
      • Ice cubes
    • Set up two high ball glasses and place 3-4 ice cubes in each.
    • Pour the ginger beer, dividing it equally between the two glasses.
    • Pour the IPA, dividing it equally between the two glasses.
    • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice pour 1.5 oz of the rum and half of the lime juice and shake 4-5 times to chill.
    • Strain/pour over one of the glasses and stir well. Garnish with lime.
    • Repeat the last step for the second cocktail.
