Shutter to Drink

For those who weren’t born yet or don’t recall them all that fondly, the ‘80s introduced some <Minnesota voice> interesting </Minnesota voice> fashion trends.

Popularized by new wave bands with improbable haircuts and the late, great Macho Man Randy Savage, shutter shades were one of those choices. They answered the question, “What if we could make sunglasses that didn’t work?” Like mall hair and frosted jean jackets, they arrived, they thrived, and they left.

Arriving this August, Shutter Shades DDH Double IPA thrives on a blinding blend of Vic Secret, Citra, and Mosaic hops. Intense and fruit-forward, it’s one trend you’ll be happy to revisit. This seasonal can be found in six-packs and on draft through October and is available to all Surly markets.

The particulars:

  • Hops: Vic Secret, Mosaic, Citra, Warrior (bittering)
  • Malt: Golden Promise, 2-Row, Honey Malt, Oat Malt, Oats, Wheat Malt
  • Yeast: English Ale
  • Special Guest: Dextrose
  • Pour: Golden
  • Bitterness: High
  • ABV: 9.0%
