What Paris is to tourists and Disneyland is to kids, Yakima is to our brewers.
We’ll be the first to admit that this is unconventional. Yakima has very few Eiffel Towers and even fewer Space Mountains. However, what it does have is hops. Fields upon fields and bines upon bines. Roughly 75% of America’s hops are grown here. Every September, Head Brewer Ben Smith and members of our brewing team head to the Yakima Valley to sniff, sample and select our hops for the coming year.
As a gesture of thanks to the hop growers and farm workers, we also brought them some hops back to Washington (in their final form). We canned a special batch of our experimental Proving Ground IPA—featuring Yakima-grown Lotus hops in Hopsteiner’s Salvo™ extract form blended with El Dorado hops–then shipped this super tropical IPA out to the hop farms. When the harvest was done, we hauled them out to the fields to celebrate another season.
While that beer was brewed for them, you can enjoy our first edition of WET in four years. Brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops from Yakima Chief Hops, you can find our fresh-hopped pale ale in the Beer Hall, where you can enjoy it on draft and in crowlers/growlers to go.
