Grindcore is a ferocious blend of heavy metal and hardcore punk. It’s also the ideal name for our final BC Small Batch release of the year, a ferocious blend of in-your-face coffee flavor and subtle stout sweetness.
If you’ve been to the Destination Brewery lately, you’ve noticed that we have a hell-ton of beers tapped (34 as of this writing). While some of these are our flagship and seasonal offerings, others are one-offs, experiments, and glorious weirdness, as our brewers flex their muscles with new styles and approaches. One of these, Rosé, was such a hit that it became a part of our BC Small Batch series. Grindcore now follows suit.
This espresso milk stout has been a crowd favorite since we introduced it in March. Using Jim’s 5-Star French Roast from Minneapolis’ Coffee & Tea Ltd., Grindcore showcases the rich, roasty character of intense cold-brew coffee, and features lactose (milk sugar) that adds a subtly-sweet caramel and molasses note to tame the espresso bite. The result is an extremely full-flavored beer that coffee lovers will clamor for. It checks in at 6% ABV with a rich black pour and a malt bill of roasted barley, chocolate malt, and 2-row pale malt.
As with previous Small Batch releases, this one will hit MN, ND, WI, and the Chicago area. And if you visit the brewery, you can also try Grindcore on nitro, because too much of a good thing is never enough.
P.S. BC Small Batch will be back in 2019. We have seen some of the projects the brew team is working on. You will be pleased.
