On a tour of the Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis (520 Malcolm Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414), we’ll show you where and how the beer is made, tell you the story about how Surly began, and then we’ll kick you out again so we can get back to brewing the beer.

We offer open and reserved tours – for more information on how these tours differ, please read through all the information below to see what type of tour is best for you.

Open Tours:

  • We do not take reservations for open tours. Hence, they are open. No exceptions. If you require reservations, please skip to the reserved tour section below.
  • The open tour schedule can be found below. We offer these tours Tuesday-Sunday, with some exceptions on holidays and special events.
  • Sign up for open tours begins at 11am in the Company Store (located inside the brewery) on the day of that tour. Tours cost $5/person payable upon sign up. Note that there are no refunds for no shows.
  • Tours are strictly limited to 20 people based on space, safety and providing you with the very best experience.
  • The cost of admission includes a tour of the brewhouse, fermentation cellar and packaging hall, beer samples, a souvenir tasting glass and a donation to a local charity.
  • Tours generally last between 45 minutes to an hour and will include standing and stairs.
  • For your own safety, you are kindly asked to refrain from wearing flip flops, open toe shoes or high heels.
  • Tour guests must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by an adult ($5 for entry with soda) or 21+ with a valid ID to drink.

Open Tour Schedule:

1/16  Monday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
1/17  Tuesday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
1/18  Wednesday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
1/19  Thursday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
1/20  Friday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
1/21  Saturday: 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm
1/22  Sunday: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm

Reserved Tours:

  • Reserved tours are available Monday – Friday at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm; Sunday at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
  • Reserved tours can be booked online up until day-of and are $10/person payable upon booking.
  • The cost of admission includes a tour of the brewhouse, fermentation cellar and packaging hall, beer samples, a souvenir tasting glass and a donation to a local charity.
  • We do not offer reserved tours on Saturdays. Not for your birthday, your bachelor(ette) party or your high school reunion.  Sorry, no exceptions. Them’s the rules.
  • Reserved tours are limited to a maximum of 20 people. Note that a reserved tour is not a private party. Reserved parties of less than 20 may be combined with other small groups to make a group of 20.
  • Cancellations: bookings must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund (minus the service fee). Adjustments to the booking (adding or dropping guests) must also be done at least 24 hours in advance of the tour start time. Note that there are no refunds for no shows. If capacity allows, we may be able to add additional guests day of.
  • If your party arrives in the company store for check in more than 10 minutes late from your scheduled time, we reserve the right to condense or cancel your tour to accommodate other tours. Don’t be a jerk. Be on time.

As a reminder, seating in Surly’s Beer Hall is first come, first serve and we do not accept reservations for dining in this space. Our award-winning finer dining restaurant, Brewer’s Table, is open from 5-10pm on Wednesday & Thursday and from 5-11pm on Friday & Saturday. Reservations can be made on Open Table or by calling 763.999.6526. Parties are limited to 8 people on Wednesday & Thursday and 6 people on Friday & Saturday.
