It’s the most wonderful time of the year! By which we mean it’s time for the market release of the 2022 Darkness Variants. (It’s also the most wonderful time of year for the manufacturers of giant ribbons that rich dudes put on their fourth wife’s new Lexus, but that’s not important right now.)
Each year, our brewers pitch potential variants of our legendary imperial stout. Three are chosen.
We previewed this year’s flavors at Darkness Day 2022 in October, and they took home the title for Longest Line of the Day. We’re pleased to be sharing them with the rest of Surly Nation this week.
Your 2022 Darkness Variants:
LUMBERJACK BREAKFAST: It’s a lumberjack and it’s more than OK. Lumberjack Breakfast is aged in bourbon barrels with maple, coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla beans. Flannel not included.
GINGER SNAP DARKNESS: An imperial stout meets the peppery bite of ginger and balancing notes of cacao and vanilla sweetness in a bourbon barrel. They live happily ever after.
RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE TORTE DARKNESS: An enticing blend of raspberry, cacao, and vanilla joins Darkness in rye whiskey barrels for a decadent aging process.
