Attending your first Surly concert? Or simply need a refresh on how show days go here? We’ll attempt to answer the most common ones:
WHERE CAN I GO BEFORE THE SHOW?
The Surly Beer Hall/Beer Garden opens at 11am. Plenty of room and time to gather if you’re meeting up with friends.
Our Beer Hall is packed with options ranging from sandwiches, bowls, tacos, large protein and veg sharables for groups and lots of dishes built for a wide range of allergies and dietary restrictions without needing to modify your order.
Upstairs on the second floor of our taproom we house a New Haven style pizza restaurant which has been touted as one of the best in the city, not to mention killer appetizers flanked with a chopped salad and Caeser salad that can go toe to toe with anyone out there. Vegan pizza – we got that.
We have lots of great food options outside, but strongly suggest you come early, grab a seat and a beer and enjoy your meal inside with the AC before you head out to the show.
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?
All attendees must be 18 years or older to attend a show without a legal guardian.
Minors (under the age of 18) are permitted to attend the event only when accompanied by a legal parent or guardian.
Accompaniment by Legal Parent or Guardian:
Proof of guardianship is required for minors who are not accompanied by their birth parent. Acceptable documents include:
- Birth certificate (to confirm parental relationship), or
2. Guardianship documents from the court (if the legal guardian is not the minor’s birth parent).
Children aged 2 and older require a regular-priced ticket for entry.
Children under the age of 2 do not need a ticket.
WHEN DO THE GATES OPEN?
Doors open at 5:30pm.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Parking is already a challenge in our neighborhood. With our parking lot unavailable during concerts, it becomes even more limited. Our first recommendation, in all caps and boldface type: USE PUBLIC TRANSIT, BIKES, RIDE SHARES OR CARPOOL IF YOU CAN. We’re a couple blocks off the Green Line (Prospect Park Station) and even closer to the U of M Transitway. We have extra bike racks and a nearby Lyft drop off/pick up area. If driving is your only option, neighboring businesses have kindly offered their parking lots for use during the show if you don’t mind a little walking. See the entire map below:

WHAT CAN I BRING INSIDE?
The list is below. If you see something that isn’t on it, let us know and we’ll add it.
- YES: Ear plugs, bug spray, sunglasses, empty water bottles (32 oz. or less, filling station onsite), hand sanitizer/wipes, breast pumps, ponchos/rain jackets. Small bags are allowed but there are bag checks and metal detectors at the gate.
- NO: Chairs, strollers, wagons, pets, umbrellas, blankets, flasks, open containers, outside food or beverages, weapons, selfie sticks, professional photography equipment.
CAN I LEAVE AND RE-ENTER THE GROUNDS?
No reentry.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
The show is rain or shine. There will be a 30-minute hold if lightning strikes within seven miles of the grounds. The First Avenue team makes the weather calls based on National Weather Service advisories.
CASH OR CREDIT?
Credit card only!
WHERE IS THE LOST AND FOUND?
Anything found at the show will be sent to the box office. Anything found after the show gets brought inside to the Beer Hall’s host stand.
