Get Some Pride, Do Some Good

Surly celebrates Pride Month and backs it up by supporting the causes that matter to us and the LGBTQ+ community. In a political climate of “Don’t Say Gay” and hard-won rights being threatened, we’re very pleased to continue that work in 2022.

SUPREME PRIDE: Surly’s DE&I Committee wanted to brew a Supreme variant specifically for Pride Month to benefit a local charity, and Head Brewer Ben Smith and the brewing team provided a dozen different flavors from which to choose. They landed on yuzu, a tart, bright, and bold citrus fruit traditionally found in East Asia. The beer is called Supreme Pride it’s on tap in our Beer Hall and select bars and restaurants.

All profits from the sale of Supreme Pride in the Beer Hall will go to OutFront Minnesota. OutFront’s mission is to create a state where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people are free to be who they are, love who they love, and live without fear of violence, harassment, or discrimination. An OutFront representative will be here on June 3rd to raise the first glass of Supreme Pride with us.

PRIDE TEES: We asked queer indigenous artist Nancy Jane to design the 2022 Surly Pride t-shirt. Nancy is based in Minneapolis and studied painting and textile arts at U of M/Morris. Her work is colorful, illustrative, and explores the personification of natural elements to create otherworldly creatures. Her shirt delivers all of that and more.

It’s available online and in our brick & mortar company store. As with Supreme Pride, all profits benefit OutFront Minnesota.

PRIDE WEEK: We’ll be celebrating this in our Beer Hall all that week (June 20-26) with Drag Bingo in the Beer Garden, The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Surly Cinema, a special DJ set from Dessa & Lazerbeak for Summer of Sound, and more. Follow @surlybeerhall on Instagram for details!

PRIDE DABBLER: The Beer Dabbler’s annual beer festival at Twin Cities Pride returns to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden on Friday, June 24th. We’ll be pouring a full lineup of Supremes, including Pride.
