What’s Darkness Day without timed tappings of our most elusive and one-off beers? Expect sneak peeks of Darkness variants and more.

There will be body painting, free tattoos, live paintings from the darkness artist, and more!
What is it?
The short answer: A beer release. The awesome answer: A kick-ass party celebrating our imperial stout with live music, rare beer tappings, dance parties, live tattooing, plus a bunch of other rad stuff that we’d rather keep a secret.

When is it?
October 7, 2023. 11am-12am
Is there an admission fee?
Nope! All free, all day.
When can I pick up my bottles?
Bottles will be available from 11am-5pm on October 7th. Pick up from the brewery only. Packages will be available in retail following the event.
Can I use a proxy buyer?
No thanks, that’s not cool.
What specialty beers are you serving?
We will be tapping a bunch of specialty options including sneak peeks of this years darkness varaints, vintage darkness, plus some crowd favorites.
Can I open my bottle at Darkness Day?
No, we ask that you save that for home use.
Are you really brewing WET?
You betcha.
Is there camping/bottle share?
That’s a great question. We don’t have a Surly-organized camping/bottle share this year.
Who is this year’s artist?
Justin Boehne.
Can I meet them?
You’re in luck! Justin and other darkness artists will be around signing bottles and selling art.
What bands are playing?
We've got a great mix of punk and metal headlined by The Vandals.
Are kids allowed?
Absolutely, may we suggest hearing protection though.
Are pets allowed?
Well behaved pets are allowed outside. No animals indoors, please.
Is outside food/drink allowed?
Nope. We’ll have plenty of options for you.
Will you hold my beer for me?
Unfortunately, no.
Where should I park?
We highly recommend ride share, biking, or public transit as our parking lot fills up quickly. Otherwise, there’s plenty of street parking in our neighborhood.
Can I purchase bottles on-site?
Most likely, any bottles remaining after the pre-sale will be available for purchase during the event.
Is this event cash only?
Nope, we recommend credit. Timed tappings will be credit only. Cash accepted indoors. IOUs not accepted.
Will there be food?
Plenty! Both restaurants will be open as well as the Surly food truck.
Is there re-entry?
For sure, come and go as you please.
Can I still eat at the Beer Hall/Pizza Upstairs?
Yes, the Beer Hall and Pizza Upstairs will have regular service.
