The Surly Beer Hall goes back to the ‘80s next week with a killer double feature and a perfect New Wave soundtrack.
Surly Cinema will be showcasing the work of director John Hughes, arguably the decade’s definitive auteur. Join us in the beer garden for a back-to-back viewing of The Breakfast Club and Some Kind of Wonderful. Bask in Judd Nelson’s entire Judd Nelson thing. Remember that Eric Stoltz’s little sister is Candace Cameron. Wear jelly bracelets and a frosted jean jacket.
Summer of Sound will host the return of DJ Jake Rudh. Minnesota/America’s premier New Wave enthusiast, you can find Jake on The Current, at First Avenue, and on Twitch laying down the most immortal bangers of the 1980s. He brings his elite record collection to the Beer Garden and he better by god play “Our Lips Are Sealed.”
Surly Cinema is Wednesday, August 24th. First film starts at 6:30 sharp. Summer of Sound plays from 6-9pm on Thursday, August 25th. It’ll be tubular.
