In honor of our first “Texas 12er” (see below), here are twelve things to know about Niiice, Surly’s new year-round beer.
*It’s about as close to a “beer-flavored beer” as we’ve ever done.
*What does that mean? Bready, with floral notes of hay and honey, and a subtle sweetness balanced with a niiice, low bitterness. It’s light-bodied, easy-drinking, and finishes clean.
*Style-wise, it’s on the lighter end of a golden ale.
*Brewed with Sterling hops.
*Malt bill: Northstar Pils, Acidulated, Pale Wheat, Carafoam
*ABV: 4.5%
*It is super approachable. The “it’s too hoppy” beer drinker in your life might finally come around to craft beer.
*These kinds of beers taste better out of tallboys. That’s just science. This is why Niiice comes in a “Texas 12er”—all Niiice 12-packs will be sold in 16-oz. cans instead of the standard 12-oz. More bang for your buck!
*As you might know, you can get Niiice in a custom team-color stadium can at Target Center during Minnesota Timberwolves games. Look for the gold-and-black version in stores.
*Pronounce it with a long, drawn-out “iii.” Or don’t. Depends on your comfort level.
*KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: Minnesota Nice—a backhanded compliment about our home state’s fake politeness. Minnesota Niiice—the state of enjoying a refreshing, Minneapolis-made ale with your friends.
*Niiice is available to all Surly markets and is hitting shelves as you read this.
