Our anniversary beers are always about pushing our boundaries and exploring techniques and processes. Our 19th anniversary beer extends this tradition in the best possible way.
Nineteen starts with a strong beer (birra forte) base and a significant amount of cabernet sauvignon juice added during fermentation. It then ages on Creative Oak’s Jupilles Fleur squares, which impart fresh floral and fruit notes along with its signature French oak flavor. The result is a beer/wine hybrid that lands in the neighborhood of a red or rosé in both strength and character.
We’re also doing a couple different things with our anniversary release this year. First, as the image suggests, we’re going back to bottles for this one. Given the nature of this beauty, it made sense to bottle it.
Second, Nineteen will ONLY be available at the brewery. As with Darkness Day, you can pre-order your bottle(s) and pick it up at our 19th Anniversary Party, which will be held on Saturday, June 7th. Supplies will be limited, so we suggest pre-ordering if you want to be sure to snag one.

We’re incredibly excited to announce that Surly is headed to Grand Forks, North Dakota later this summer. In partnership with @shortortalleateryanddrinkhall out of Rogers, MN, Surly Brewing Co. Pizza & Taproom with be expanding with our second location right in the heart of the University of North Dakota campus.
Many more details to come but first and foremost, we need to hire a Kitchen Manager! We are actively recruiting for this position to start early this summer. Our Surly Gives A Damn Donation Garden is in its 11th year! We have grown and donated 10K pounds of produce along the way. Come help us keep growing!
We are looking for our summer garden crew. NO, YOU DON’T NEED EXPERIENCE.
We have opportunities for the following: Weekly garden helpers, monthly garden helpers, and/or delivery drivers from May – October.
Garden helpers meet on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm to plant, weed, harvest and tend to the garden. After we tend to the garden, we celebrate with a beverage in teh beer hall! Delivery drivers will pick up harvested produce Wednesday mornings (9am or so) from Surly, deliver produce to Keystone, and return empty bins back to Surly.
Everything we grow in this garden is donated to Keystone Community Services this year and will be put directly onto their food shelf the day after harvest. Keystone’s food shelf is designed to support people who need food assistance and other help. They also have a Foodmobile, crisis support, and additional food programs and work to strengthen the community by giving ample access to neighbors in need.
