The Decemberists @ Festival Field

The Decemberists show originally scheduled for August 9, 2021 has been canceled.

From The Decemberists:

“We were really hoping against hope to be able to bring this 20th/21st anniversary show on the road this summer. And while there’s every reason to be optimistic about the state of the pandemic and the possibility of live shows in the future, we don’t think it’s going to happen in July and August of this year. There’s so much uncertainty about playing these shows safely, especially the indoor ones, that we thought the best decision is to cancel. Yeah, we’re bummed. We plan on touring next summer; whether that will be in the vein of a similar tour or something new altogether, it’s too soon to say.  We promise to be out there again, seeing all your shining, singing faces — covered or uncovered.”

First Avenue will be contacting ticketholders directly. If you have any questions, head to their website for the necessary contact info.

  • Arrival & Parking: Concert-goers should take alternate transport if at all possible. There will be VERY limited parking. Valet parking will be available at 5 pm. Overflow parking will be available at SKB, CSM and UEL lots all starting at 5 PM. There are some pay lots on the east side of TCF Bank Stadium if you don't mind walking a few blocks. The METRO Green Line is a great way to get here, as we are located just down the block from the Prospect Park stop. BIKING IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD OPTION! Bring your own or use Nice Ride to get to Surly Festival Field. Everyone will be ID'd at the gate.
  • Cash/Credit: You can use cash or credit to get beer tickets, food and merch. If you do need cash, there will be an ATM in the concert venue for your use.
  • Bag policy: Bags and backpacks are allowed, but there are bag checks at the gate. Don't try anything funny.
  • Other: No outside food or beverage, no chairs, no umbrellas, no pets, and no one under the age of 18, not even infants. Breast pumps are allowed. There will be NO RE-ENTRY once you exit the venue. And as ever, don’t be dumb or we will throw you out.
  • Lost & Found: Anything found during the show will be sent to the box office. Anything left after the show gets brought inside to the host stand in the Beer Hall.

  • Food/Drink: There will be an arsenal of food trucks in the venue. So come hungry and ready to eat some delicious grub. There will also be N/A beverages available for purchase at the food trucks. And, yes, there will be plenty of opportunity for you to grab a beer—so come thirsty, too. Only beer TICKETS will be accepted at the beer tents, so be sure to buy those before going up to order. As always, drink responsibly and don’t be dumb.
  • IDs: Bring ‘em! The show is 18+ and the beer is 21+.
  • WATER: Feel free to bring a SEALED OR EMPTY WATER BOTTLE to the venue. There will be a water station inside for you to fill it up. Water bottles will also be available for sale at the merchandise tent. “Hydration is important.” –Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President.

For anyone NOT attending the show who still wants to hit up the Beer Hall, here’s what YOU should know:

  • There will still be limited parking, but you can also park in the overflow lots (SKB, CSM & UEL Lots), and we’ll have valet available as well.
  • We will be running the Beer Hall and Surly Pizza Upstairs business-as-usual, same hours, same menu. With an expected 5,000 folks coming to the concert venue, we DO recommend that you get here a little earlier to cut down on wait times.
