Xtra-Citra Is Back. For Good.

Beer Release

Xtra-Citra is back for good.

Reading that sentence should take you to one of two places.

  1. It could bring to mind “Back for Good,” the only American hit by British boy band Take That. The pretend rain is gonna ruin that hat, bro.
  2. The more beer-focused place is a feeling of sun-dappled, untethered joy, as our sessionable, hoppy pale ale takes a bow as Surly’s newest year-round brew.

The ecstatic response we got for this one when it debuted last March made this decision a no-brainer. You get enough “One of the best session pale ales we’ve ever had” comments from various smart corners of the internet, you take the damn hint.

A generous (or “Xtra”, if you will) helping of Citra hops, combined with body from Golden Naked Oats, make Xtra-Citra the rare session beer with flavor and oomph. (“Oomph” is a word, we checked.) In addition to our 16 oz. 4-packs, you’ll also be able to grab this crush-worthy summer ale in 12 oz. 12-packs as Memorial Day nears.

The finer details:

  • Citra hops impart the tropical fruit, citrus, and melon notes.
  • Malts doing work here: Acidulated enhances the citrus, Gambrinus Honey adds a touch of sweetness, and the aforementioned Golden Naked Oats provide some richness to the thing.
  • ABV is 4.5%. If you want that hoppy, Citra kick in a lower-ABV beer, you came to the right place.
  • Dude: 12-PACKS!

Xtra-Citra will be on shelves everywhere Surly is distributed the week of March 27th.
