Bash Action--A Surly, Grumpy Cream Ale

Beer Release, Minnesota

We love Grumpy’s. Roseville, Northeast, Downtown–all of ’em. They have one of the finest bar signs in the known universe, the Surly is always cold, Tony from Northeast has a Guns ‘n Roses cover band…we could go on.

Their Downtown location is having their biennial parking lot party, Bash 17, on July 22nd. The lineup is legit legendary:

  • Melvins
  • Mudhoney
  • Cherubs
  • Lydia Lunch Retrovirus
  • Whores.
  • The Blind Shake

We wanted to be a part of this in any way possible — frickin’ Mudhoney, c’mon. As it happens, we are a brewery. You can probably figure out where we’re going with this.

Bash Action Cream Ale will be pouring exclusively at Grumpy’s at Bash 17. Yes, Surly is making a cream ale, the first time we’ve ever brewed one. No, you can’t get it anywhere else. Yes, it’s going to be awesome.

“The short answer for why Surly is making a cream ale is ‘Because we wanted to,'” says Head Brewer Jerrod Johnson. “After discussing with Pat and Tom from Grumpy’s, we decided a cream ale would be the perfect beer for an outdoor bash on a hot summer day. We wanted to brew something that people can drink all day and brew to a style we’ve never made before.”

See you in the parking lot.
