We are stoked to announce that this year’s Surly Featured Artist is Adam Martin, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota!
Adam’s love of illustration began at a young age as he grew up in San Diego, Akron, and a handful of other spots. A steady diet of Transformers, New Mutants, and Mario Brothers provided fuel for the sketchbooks that amassed in his bedroom. He has had the privilege of working with a number of artists like Atmosphere, Blueprint, Murs, and the Sword. You can check out his work HERE.
Adam’s going to create the art for SurlyFest and Darkness 2016, and then our 11th anniversary beer.
Michael Berglund, Surly’s Creative Director, said: “In Adam we’ve found the right blend of talent and passion for all things Surly. Long a part of Surly Nation, his unique hand-hewn style and twisted imagination is going to bring a different take to our annual art for SurlyFest, Darkness, and our Eleventh Anniversary Beer. We are looking forward to working with him and extending Surly’s ongoing partnership with local and regional artists. Cheers, Adam!”
Also, cheers to all of you who took time to put together your portfolio and send it over to us. We had over 70 entries this year, and that’s amazing. It is difficult to see all that talent and know that, as we’ve said before, there can only be one. But if we didn’t choose you this year, don’t let that get in way of your quest to work with us. Keep making art, keep in touch and keep gettin’ Surly.
