Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros at Surly Brewing Festival Field

Concert, Minneapolis Brewery, Minnesota Events

Surly is all about the beer. But as you know, there’s more to us than that. We are passionate about food, art, givin’ a damn about our community, gettin’ outside and being active and importantly, music. And we want to share that passion with Surly Nation on a big scale. That’s why we are introducing Surly Brewing Festival Field, an area next to our Destination Brewery (where SurlyFest takes place) where we can host awesome musical acts in the spring, summer, and fall with a beer in hand.

The inaugural show at the Surly Brewing Festival Field is in conjunction with First Avenue & 7th St Entry, and we will welcome the mega indie-folk ensemble Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros to town on Friday, May 20, who’ll be supported by New Orleans’ finest, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Attending the show this week? Awesome! Things are kicking off around 6pm and we’re excited to see you. This is our first gig, so we wanna make sure you all have what you need to know to #GetSurly:

  • Arrival & Parking: Concert-goers should take alternate transport if at all possible. There will be VERY limited parking. Overflow parking will be available at SKB, CSM and UEL lots all starting at 5pm. The Green Line is a great way to get here, as we are located just down the block form the Prospect Park stop. Also, get on ya bike! Bring your own or use Nice Ride to get to Surly Festival Field. Everyone will be ID’d at the gate.
  • Food/Drink: There will be food trucks in the venue—TEN of them. So come hungry and ready to eat some delicious grub. There will also be N/A beverages available for purchase at the food trucks. And, yes, there will be plenty of opportunity for you to grab a beer—so come thirsty, too. Only beer TICKETS will be accepted at the beer tents, so be sure to buy those before going up to order. As always, please drink responsibly and don’t be dumb.
  • Cash/Credit: You can use cash or credit to get beer tickets, food and merch. If you do need cash, there will be an ATM in the concert venue for your use.
    • An exclusive, very limited-edition poster developed by Surly friend, Corey Sweeter, will be available for sale at the show. See more details & the poster below.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: There is NO re-admittance to the concert venue. Once you are in, you are in.

For anyone NOT attending the show, but still wanna #GetSurly in the Beer Hall or Brewer’s Table, here’s what YOU should know:

  • There will still be limited parking, but you can also park in the overflow lots (SKB, CSM & UEL Lots) starting at 5pm, and we’ll have valet available as well.
  • We will be running the Beer Hall and Brewer’s Table business-as-usual, same hours, same menu, same process for getting a table.
    • With an expected 4,000 folks coming to the concert venue, we DO recommend that you get here a little earlier that you’d expect to grab a table.
